Booking Permits & Stays in Jim Corbett

Booking Permits & Stays in Jim Corbett is an essential step for anyone planning to explore the wilderness of this iconic national park. As India’s oldest tiger reserve, Jim Corbett National Park welcomes thousands of wildlife lovers each year, all hoping to experience its rich biodiversity and catch a glimpse of the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger. To regulate tourism and protect the fragile ecosystem, all safaris and forest accommodations are managed by the Uttarakhand Forest Department. Visitors are required to secure their safari permits and book their stays in advance—especially for popular zones like Dhikala, Bijrani, Jhirna, and Dhela.

Whether you’re opting for a government-run forest rest house or staying at a resort near the park, booking permits & stays in Jim Corbett should be done through official channels or verified operators to ensure authenticity and availability. Early reservations are highly recommended during peak seasons to avoid last-minute hassles.

Day Visit Permit in Dhikala Zone: Canter Safari

Dhikala Zone, the most popular and wildlife-rich area of Jim Corbett National Park, allows day visits only via Canter Safari. Private vehicles are not permitted for tourists on day visits. To explore this zone, you must book a Canter Safari permit in advance through the official website or registered agents. Each Canter holds up to 16 people and operates in two shifts—morning and afternoon.

Permits for Accommodation at Forest Rest Houses

Jeep safaris are available in all Jim Corbett eco-tourism zones except Dhikala, where only tourists with prior overnight bookings at the Dhikala Forest Rest House (FRH) can take jeep safaris. Day visitors in Dhikala must opt for the Canter safari, the only day option in this zone.

Visitors can book stays at FRHs like Dhikala, Lohachaur, Rathuadhab, Halduparao, and others for 1 to 3 nights. Bookings must be made online in advance by paying the required fees. Permits are then collected from the Ramnagar Reception Office before park entry. Indian tourists can book up to 45 days in advance, while foreign nationals can book 90 days ahead. If FRH permits are unavailable, tourists can stay at nearby private resorts and visit the park daily.
